Let us remember our heroes who advocated the freedom we all enjoy today. Happy 4th of July!

Dear Community Members,
As part of the annual statewide initiative RecruitNY, the Bushnell’s Basin Fire Department is inviting you to meet your volunteer firefighters at Hitching Post Plaza on Friday, April 21, 2023. We will be there from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. (just look for the big red trucks).
This is a terrific opportunity to get to know your local firefighters and learn more about the important work they do in our community. You’ll have a chance to ask questions and find out how you can get involved in supporting our fire department.
Fill out an entry form while you’re there for a chance to win a free Pontillo’s pizza that will be delivered to you by hand in a firetruck.
We hope you can join us for this special event.
On April 5, 2021, Past Chief and current member of the Bushnell’s Basin Fire Department, LJ Sutherland was diagnosed with terminal cancer. To help support LJ and the LJ Sutherland Scholarship Fund, a fundraiser is being hosted by his daughter Ashley, along with Ted Aroesty, Steve Burruto and Chris Mueller.
The aptly named the “LJ Strong Fundraiser” is being held at Thirsty’s at 8 State St, Pittsford, NY on Sunday, September 18th starting at 1pm.
Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door for $20. Ticket holders are entitled to enjoy free beer and live music performed by Mike Nolan and Bob Spiegel. Food and T-shirts will be available for purchase; as well as, tickets for door prizes and a 50/50 raffle.
To acquire a pre-sale ticket, please Venmo Nancy Sutherland: @lj_strong14 (last four numbers are 4743). When purchasing tickets, please include the name(s) of the people you are buying tickets for, in the, “what is it for?” section in Venmo.
If you do not have access to Venmo, you can also use this PayPal link to acquire your tickets.
Ashley Sutherland would like to thank everyone for their support and we hope to see you at Thirsty’s on Sunday September 18th!
Help us celebrate the life of Earl Adams by donating blood. In addition to being a U.S. Navy veteran and a volunteer firefighter at the Bushnell’s Basin Fire Department for thirty-seven years, Adams was a lifelong blood donor whose first donation went to a little boy fighting leukemia.
Your blood is needed for many different kinds of patients. From a young child with a rare blood disorder to a family member fighting cancer, or even a friend involved in a car accident. Please schedule an appointment to donate at this special blood drive. You’ll feel good knowing you’ve helped change the lives of patients in need.
