I am interested in exploring volunteer opportunities - how can I learn more?
Fill out our Join BBFD Request Form and one of our members will contact you. You can also attend one of our weekly training sessions on Monday evening at 7:00PM.
Are there any non-firefighting volunteering options?
Our greatest need is for active firefighters. However, if you have a particular skill that may be of need to us in running our business, please contact us and we will discuss it.
What are the requirements to be a firefighter with BBFD?
You must live or work in the Bushnell’s Basin district and have a desire to help others. We will teach you everything else.
What training is required / provided?
We would not expect you to have any previous expereince or training as a firefighter, but if you do, that is great. All firematic training is provided in conjunction with Monroe County. Ongoing training is generally done at our facility.
What is the expected commitment once I become a volunteer at BBFD?
We have a schedule of the minimum number of drills and calls you need to attend, along with a total commitment that decreases the longer you are with us. That allows you to join us, get trained, and build your proficiency early in your volunteer career with us.
Are there any other benefits provided to BBFD members?
