Yes, BBFD is an all volunteer organization staffed by more than 70 volunteers.
How can I support BBFD?
You can donate to BBFD via our webpage at http://www.bushnellsbasinfd.org/donate-to-bbfd or you can mail a check made out to Bushnells Basin Fire Department and mail to 661 Kreag Road Pittsford, NY 14534. We are also a United Way designated agency, with the code 2341.

What are the requirements to be a firefighter with BBFD?
You must live or work in the Bushnell’s Basin district and have a desire to help others. We will teach you everything else.
What training is required / provided?
We would not expect you to have any previous expereince or training as a firefighter, but if you do, that is great. All firematic training is provided in conjunction with Monroe County. Ongoing training is generally done at our facility.
What is the expected commitment once I become a volunteer at BBFD?
We have a schedule of the minimum number of drills and calls you need to attend, along with a total commitment that decreases the longer you are with us. That allows you to join us, get trained, and build your proficiency early in your volunteer career with us.
